Etymology: Pseudacris — From Greek: pseudo- (ψευδο-) – “false” or “imitation” akris (ἀκρίς) – “grasshopper”
clarkii — his is a Latinized patronym, honoring a person named Clark. The suffix -ii indicates possession, meaning: “of Clark” or “Clark’s”; The species was named in honor of John Henry Clark (1830–?), a 19th-century American naturalist and explorer who collected zoological specimens in the American West, including amphibians and reptiles.
